Hello!
I can't believe there is only 7 more days of school left. I am so sad to be done my amazing LTO here at GC Huston. We have already lost 3 students in the past month. Livi transferred to St. Joes, Ayush left early for vacation, and today Ethan also left us for an early vacation also. :(
For the last 9 days of school I decided to hang 9 balloons. Inside of each balloon there is a piece of paper with a fun activity on it (some are inside, some are outside activities). So far, on Monday we popped the first balloon and we won a morning full of arts and crafts. Today, we popped our second balloon and the piece of paper said, "paper airplane contest". So this afternoon we all made paper airplanes and had a mini competition to see who's could fly the farthest. Jacque won first place, Griffen won second place, and Joseph won third place. We had SO much fun with this.
I am very excited for our beach field trip tomorrow. I'm really hoping it doesn't rain, but if it does we are going to try for Thursday morning. We WILL get this last field trip in.
Bye for now!

Beach Trip
The reason we have decided on taking a trip to the beach is to reward our class for getting all of our marbles into the "fill it up jar". It did take us 2 months, but we did it! Unfortunately today was not a great beach day, so we will go next Wednesday June 18. I apologize for the mistakes on the permission form that was sent home.
I will not be here this Friday or next Friday as I have two family weddings to attend. I trust the kids will all be on their best behaviour for the supply teachers.
I am so proud of all of our grade 3s and 4s this year, and I had such a blast getting to know them and teaching them all. I will be very sad to say goodbye in 2 weeks.

update
Hello Boys and Girls!
Great work completing the EQAO testing! I saw a lot of perserverance and determination, I am very proud of all of you. Thanks grade 4's for behaving well for Mrs. Smith all week. Just a reminder to come out to the fish fry tomorrow, from 5-8 to fundraise for our Grade 8 Graduation, you can pay at the door if you haven't already! Also, for those of you who have signed up for archery, we finally have archery again next Monday June 9th.
(Only 16 more days of school!)

Hi everyone!
In MATH, we are learning about time. Please review time with your child on clocks you have at home, and discuss elapsed time as well. Click HERE to enter into a fun website to play some games involving telling time.
I sent home a note about our Social Studies research projects. The kids are LOVING these as they get so much choice within this project. We will continue working on these until we present them to various classes next week, and then to YOU guys next Thursday night.

FRACTIONS
We are moving right along, now finished talking about money and have moved on to FRACTIONS! We did a "give and get" today in class, where children wrote down one thing they knew about fractions (literally, anything they could even relate to the word), and then travel around the classroom and give their answer, and get others. By the end of 5 minutes, we all had about 7-10 new answers on our sheet. This was a good way for me to tell what level our class was at when it came to fractions and to activate any prior knowledge.
Click HERE to enter onto a fun fractions website where students can play some games and learn about fractions. Try playing "Identifying Fractions level 1" first. Have fun!
